Study of a dry cleaning system for FBR spent fuels. Development of a sodium mist collector

Description
Fundamental experiments were conducted to investigate the behavior of the sodium condensation process in argon gas and to fully understand the collection mechanism of sodium mist in the warm filter. These experiments were in support of development of a sodium collector in the dry cleaning system for fast breeder reactor (FBR) spent fuel. A study on the practical use of the system was then carried out based on the experimental results. A compact mist collector design was developed with a collection efficiency of over 99%. (author)
