Simultaneous determination of 56 Mn and 187W in neutron activated steels
Description
The simultaneous determination of the count rates due to 56Mn and 187W in the activation analysis of steel samples was carried out through exponential regression using least square fitting. The regression coefficients obtained corresponded to the initial count rates of 56Mn and 187W. Later on, the count rates of 56Mn were correlated to the manganese content in the samples and to the count rates of the same radionuclide, obtained in a region of the gamma spectrum where only 56Mn was apparent. The correlation coefficients were respectively .968 and .99997, thus demonstrating the applicability of the methodology adopted herein. (Author)

A determinacao simultanea das taxas de contagem devidas ao 56Mn e ao 187W na analise por ativacao em amostras de aco foi feita atraves de regressao exponencial pelo metodo dos minimos quadrados da curva de decaimento dos dois radionuclideos. Os coeficientes de regressao obtidos correspondiam as taxas de contagem iniciais do 56Mn e do 187W. As taxas de contagem do 56Mn foram, a seguir, correlacionadas com os teores de manganes das amostras e com as taxas de contagem obtidas em uma regiao do espectro gama onde so a contribuicao do 56Mn era significativa. Os coeficientes de correlacao obtidos foram, respectivamente, 0,968 e 0,99997 o que demonstra a viabilidade de emprego desta metodologia. (Autor)Files
