A technological pole in constant evolution: The industrial platform of Bessines-sur-Gartempe in the 21. century. Uranium mines: Ureka, a museographic and recreational space

This article proposes an overview of a technical day organised by the SIM (Society of Mineral Industry) on the Orano industrial site of Bessines-sur-Gartempe, and which comprised a presentation of the site evolution after the end of extraction activities: the site now comprises several industrial installations (sites of storage of ore treatment residues, a laboratory of production of Lead 212, a centre of R and D in extractive metallurgy, a depleted uranium storage site). It evokes the importance of the control issue of these sites, comments the recently built R and D centre, and presents Ureka (a museographic and recreational space dedicated to the history of uranium exploitation)
