Description

Two techniques used for measurement of fission cross sections of Am-241 are described. Experimental results obtained with the prompt fission neutron detection method are reported. Problems linked with the detection of fission fragments in the presence of a strong α-background in a gas-scintillation counter are mentioned and a technical solution is given to overcome these difficulties
