Analysis of operating experience with WWER power stations

Description
Operation of WWER-4 and WWER-1 series power type stations in the period up to 1990 is analysed. Their operational performance and energy production are considered. Outages are analysed and their share in the total unavailability is established. It is shown that nuclear system failures represent the most significant contribution to the total unplanned unavailability (about 60% relatively). In absolute figures, however, contributions of the WWER-4 and the WWER-1 types are only 1.2% and 6.3% respectively. Particular attention is paid to estimation of operational reliability, indicating that operation of the WWER-4 type is more reliable
