Description

It is universally recognized that an important source of information related to the performance of a nuclear power plant is the operating experience, either our own or of other nuclear power plants. For this reason a requirement for the nuclear power plants is to have established an Operating Experience Program. The main objective of nuclear power plants that use such programs is to effectively and efficiently use the lessons and conclusions resulted from the exchange of information with the nuclear industry and from the station events to improve the safety and reliability of the plants. This objective is stated in the 'Nuclear Safety Policy' for CNE-PROD Cernavoda, which requires that 'events significant to safety be detected and evaluated in depth, and measures shall be implemented promptly to correct root causes found, to disseminate lesson learned, and to follow-up that effective action has been implemented'. Any event that occurs in CNE-PROD Cernavoda is closely assessed and prompt corrective actions are taken. Some corrective actions are carried out through training. The paper describes how the operating experience information is effective and how it complies with systematic approach to training programs aiming to improve the personnel skills and knowledge and to enhance the safety and reliability of the plant.
