Heat transfer into the module shell tube of a sodium heated steam generator in a large leak accident

Description
Media temperatures at the sodium side, outer surface temperatures of module shell tubes, and sodium and reaction products flow rates were measured during a simulated accident caused by injection of steam into sodium at a modular steam generator. Results of measurements are given. Two theoretical approaches to the coefficient of heat transfer from reaction products into the module shell tube are formulated. Their comparison results in temperature versus time variations close to those measured. A relation for an approximate calculation of the coefficient of heat transfer from sodium/water reaction products to the steam generator module metal in a large-leak accident is drawn from a semiempirical analogy between the transport of heat and momentum that is complemented by a function dependence on Prandtl's number with best correspondence of computed values and heat transfer coefficient values derived from the temperature measurements at the modular steam generator. Abstract (German)
Die Temperaturen der Medien an der Natriumseite, die Temperaturen der aeusseren Wand des Modulmantelrohres sowie die Stroemungsgeschwindigkeiten von Natrium und Reaktionsprodukten wurden waehrend einer simulierten Leckage von Wasserdampf in Natrium an einem Moduldampferzeuger gemessen. Messergebnisse werden mitgeteilt. Zwei theoretische Moeglichkeiten, die Waermeuebertragung von Reaktionsprodukten in das Dampferzeugermodulaussenrohr zu bestimmen, werden dargestellt. Die berechneten Ergebnisse werden mit gemessenen Temperatur-Zeit-Verlaeufen verglichen. Eine aus der semiempirischen Analogie zwischen Waerme- und Impulstransport bekannte Gleichung wird durch eine von der Prandtlschen Zahl abhaengige Funktion erweitert, die die beste Korrespondenz zwischen den berechneten und den aus den Messungen abgeleiteten Werten der Koeffizienten der Waermeuebertragung durch Reaktionsprodukte fuer modulare natriumbeheizte Dampferzeuger liefert.
