Cryogenic facility for experimental study on liquid helium flows

Description

To investigate heat exchange and hydrodynamic processes during forced current of both two-phase and one-phase helium in extended channels, constructed is a facility consisting of a cryogenic magnet simulator, cryostat of cryogenic helium mains of 13.2 m length, vacuum system and testing instruments. The usage of renewable cryogenic simulators is envisaged: this permits to simulate the processes in various cryogenic systems. Experimental data have shown, that at the values of heat flows existing in the acceleration-storage complex of HEPI (High-Energy Physics Institute) temperature difference between a wall and boiling helium is not over 0.05 K. Experimental values of hydraulic resistances in the range of mean values of vapour content 0.57<=X<=0.7 are less by 30% than estimated values, obtained for homogeneous two-phase flows. No instability of helium flow current and heat exchange was observed
