Theory of ionization equilibrium: An approximation for the single element case
Description
An approximate solution to the equations of ionization equilibrium for a single element is presented and shown to be very accurate. The Helmholtz free energy is expressed in terms of a simple atomic-like partition function that is summed over all levels and ionization stages of the atom. The result has certain features in common with average atom models
