Effect of mechanical and thermal treatment of powders on characteristics of their sintering specified by the method of their production

Description

A photo-optical method of dilatometry is used to study ''behaviour'' of porous bodies of molybdenum and tungsten carbide in the temperature jump with an interval (between isothermal periods) of 100-150 deg C. A sharp increase of the pore volume reduction rate with a subsequent rapid drop of the second isothermal period rate to a quasi-equilibrium level is established. It is shown that peculiarities of the compaction kinetics with a rapid elevation of the temperature which are established for nickel, iron and copper powders are valid for refractory metals and their carbides
