Description
The effect of a continuous transition from DT to DD fuel on the blanket breeding requirement, on the plasma quality and on the reactor potentiality is investigated for an arbitrary, but fixed reactor concept. It is shown that in the parameter range associated with positive net electric power output, relatively small decreases in the neutron power fraction and in the tritium inventory are associated with strong decreases in fusion power and in net power output, and that conventional confinement concepts seem to admit only marginal relaxation of the blanket breeding requirement
