Description
We investigated the utility of computed tomography simulation system (CTSS) for treatment plannings of the patients with esophageal cancer. We designed 43 patients plans for the 38 patients, using CTSS since 1989. There are two methods in planning by CTSS: one is axial image method, and the other is scout image method. We succeeded in delivering an adequate dose to the target and lowering dose to the critical organs by axial image method of CTSS. Scout method provided the same utility of conventional X ray simulator. Endoscopic clipping method was also useful to supplement CTSS when necessary. As a result, we concluded CTSS is useful in treatment planning for esophageal cancer. (author)
