Kinetics of nitrogen elimination from iron in electron-beam heating

Creators

Description

Kinetics of nitrogen elimination from iron under the conditions of electron-beam heating characterized by two different mechanisms of the process, is studied. The first period lasts 1-1.5 min, that exactly corresponds to the melt bubbling by the carbon oxide, is interconnected with the latter and is characterized by the high rate of nitrogen elimination. Nitrogen atom transfer to bubble surface of carbon oxide is carried out, probably, by turbulent diffusion. The second period is characterized by small rate of nitrogen elimination and is interrelated with its evaporation from melt surface. Processes run in the transition range, which is characterized by diffusion-chemical control, and are limited by nitrogen diffusion
