The actual situation on the energy market and the prospects for the future

The present work gives an overview of the latest edition of ''World Energy Outlook'' of the international energy agency IEA, that was published in 1994. An attempt is made to sketch a realistic picture of the developments for the period of time until the year 2010. One of the most important parameter is the price for oil. A fast progressing globalisation of the energy trade is regarded as one development, coinciding with increasing interdependencies of all market participants and with an increasing importance of the nations from Asia and Latin America. In this respect natural gas plays a more important role at the generation of electricity. (orig.)
