Spent fuel storage rack and manufacturing method therefor

Description

The present invention provides a spent fuel storage rack for storing and keeping spent fuel assemblies taken out of a nuclear reactor in a fuel pool and a method of manufacturing the same. Namely, the rack is constituted by assembling partition plates in a lattice-like configuration. In the structure, planar partitioning plates having a plurality of perforations are assembled with strip-like partitioning plates in a lattice-like configuration such that the side end surface of the strip-like partitioning plate disposed vertically to the planar partitioning plate abuts against the perforations of the planar partitioning plate, and the intersections of them are integrally combined. In the manufacturing method, a plurality of strip-like partitioning plates are previously welded with the planar partitioning plates vertically. The other end of the strip-like partitioning plate is assembled to the perforations of other planar partitioning plate and then the intersections between of the strip-like partitioning plates and the planar partitioning plates are combined integrally. The procedures are repeated. The rack has a simple shape, and the manufacturing method can greatly save the time required for machining and assembling. (I.S.)
