The evaluation of gamma and cosmic-ray components in dwelling-houses by a spectrometric method

  • 1. Institute of Nuclear Research, Warsaw (Poland)

Description

A spectrometric method of dose rate measurement in dwelling-houses has been developed. For measurements field gamma ray spectrometer was used with 4'' x 3'' NaJ(Tl) crystal and a multichannel field operated pulse-height analyzer. The measurements were done in four cities in Poland: Warsaw, Czestochowa, Pulawy and Ostroleka according to the building type technology indicated by the Research Center for High Concrete Technology in Warsaw. For the estimation of cosmic ray ionizing component inside buildings the measurements with a high pressure ionization chamber were also performed. All measurements made with the gamma ray spectrometer were done with the errors not greater than +-20%. (author)
