Description
A first full-custom LSI for high-energy physics experiments is developed in Japan in 1988. After this, several time measuring ASICs are developed and used in many experiments not only in high-energy fields but also in cosmic satellite and industries. Recently, monolithic radiation detectors, which include both sensors and readout circuits in a single die, are developed by using a Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) technology. The SOI detector also has a wide field of application due to its superior performance. History and present status of these developments are presented. (author)
