Alteration in reactor installation (alteration in the radioactive waste treatment facility and the Semi-Homogeneous Experiment setup) in Tokai Research Establishment, Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (inquiry)
Description
An inquiry by Prime Minister to the Nuclear Safety Commission, concerning the alteration in the radioactive waste treatment facility and the Semi-Homogeneous Experiment setup (experimental critical facility) in the Tokai Research Establishment, JAERI was made. The technical capability of JAERI personnel and the safety for the alteration were confirmed by the PM. The result of examination for the latter aspect, as a draft by the Science and Technology Agency is presented. The alteration is as follows: the removal of a solid waste incinerator in the radioactive waste treatment facility; and the alteration in the reactor core and fuel elements of the Semi-Homogeneous Experiment setup and in its associated facilities for the measurement and control, nuclear fuel material storage and radioactive waste management.
