Fourier transform NMR studies of 10B and 11B in aqueous solutions

Description
The ratios of the Larmor frequencies of 10B and 2H and of 11B and 10B have been measured with the NMR method and a magnetic moment has been calculated for 10B in the B(OH)4--ion. For this, an investigation of the dependence of the NMR signals of 10B and 2H on the concentration of some boron salts in solutions of H2O and D2O was necessary. Using hyperfine interaction constants from literature, the hyperfine structure anomaly of boron in the 2Psub(1/2) atomic ground state has been calculated. A difference in the magnetic shielding between the isotopes 10B and 11B in different compounds could not be detected. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Das Verhaeltnis der Larmor-Frequenzen von 10B und 2H und von 11B und 10B wurde mit der NMR-Methode ermittelt und ein Magnetmoment fuer 10B im B(OH)4--Ion berechnet. Dazu war eine Untersuchung der Abhaengigkeit der NMR-Signale von 10B und 2H von der Konzentration einiger Borsalze in Loesungen von H2O und D2O notwendig. Die Hyperfeinstruktur von Bor im atomaren Grundzustand 2Psub(1/2) wurde mit Hilfe von Hyperfeinwechselwirkungskonstanten aus der Literatur berechnet. Fuer die Magnetabschirmung konnte kein Unterschied zwischen den Isotopen 10B und 11B in verschiedenen Verbindungen festgestellt werden. (orig./AK)Additional details
