Description

Several definitions of the deuteron effective range rho(-α2,-α2) given in the literature and their connection with the appropriate scattering phases are discussed. Relations between the 3S1-3D1 scattering lengths and effective ranges for three parametrisations of the S matrix are obtained. A suggested inelastic two-channel S matrix is shown to have five rather than six parameters if the physical situation contains only three channels. (author)
