Consideration to keep the know-how in the technical divisions in the headquarter of a utility for safe plant operation in the long term

Description

Special know-how in nuclear technology is and will be a basic element in the business of a utility operating nuclear power plants today and in the future. The acquisition and maintenance of nuclear know-how is necessary to maximize the economic success of the business. The presentation will report about the results of a study carried out by PreussenElektra Kemkraft at the end of 1999. Identified possibilities keeping the nuclear know-how will be discussed, i. e. - maintenance and development of know-how in the existing organisation; - utility overlapping competence center; - commercial know-how agency; - engineering consultant office for other utilities; - cooperation with manufacturers and other utilities, building new nuclear plants; - participation in projects planning new nuclear power plants, as EPR, in a independent project organisation.
