Evolution of synthetic ion-ion beam large-scale oscillations
Description
Large-scale deformation oscillations of a beam, consisting of different charge-sign ions, were investigated. The oscillations of interest arise due to a nonideal overlap of the beam components. The transverse density inhomogeneity is shown to favor the development of a small-scale wave structure. Its evolution is analyzed. The deformation parameter range, ensuring the absence of system transport performance substantial deterioration, is estimated. 13 refs., 2 figs
