Description
We have solved the Eliashberg gap equations which are valid for arbitrary phonon frequency, (Ωph), electron-phonon coupling constant, (λ), and screened Coulomb interaction, (μ*). We have used values of Ωph, λ, and μ* appropriate to the cuprate superconductors, and calculated the density of states, the pair potential, and the value of the gap at T = 0 K. Using the linearized Eliashberg equations in the matrix representation, we have calculated Tc and 2Δ/kTc. We have found that we can account for the high Tc's in the cuprates with reasonable values for λ, μ*, and Ωph. 10 refs., 2 figs., 1 tab
