Radiation shielding material
Description
A radiation shielding layer is formed by incorporating a mixed powder of a scaly radiation shielding powder having an average grain size of from 50μm to 1mm and a radiation shielding fine powder having an average grain size of from 1 to 50μm in a resin, with the radiation shielding fine powder being put between the layerous scaly radiation shielding powder. The mixed radiation shielding powder comprising lead, iron or a mixture thereof is incorporated in the resin by from 60 to 85wt%. The scaly powder can be obtained by pulverizing and flattening a powder obtained by an atomizing method or a spraying method. The radiation shielding material of the present invention is lighter in the weight than a conventional shielding material as well as has much greater radiation shielding performance and excellent fabricability. Accordingly, it can be moved easily when it is used as a shielding wall such as a partition wall, and even in a case when an operator wears it, neither mobility nor operation efficiency is deteriorated.
