Lifetime measurements in 162Dy

Description
Multiple Coulomb excitation and Doppler-broadened line shape (DBLS) methods were used to study the nucleus 162Dy. The Coulomb excitation measurements utilized 1-mg/cm2 targets and 595-and 623-MeV 136Xe beams with gamma rays detected in coincidence with scattered particles. By using multiplicities determined from an NaI array, expected systematics, and variation of intensity with particle scattering angle and incident energy, levels in the ground band have been assigned through spin 20 (spins 14 to 20 were not known before).
