Cystic astrocytomas in children. The contribution of MRI

Description
Three cases of cystic astrocytomas are reported in children. Two are supratentorial and one is a cerebellar tumor. The authors insist on the difficulties of the diagnosis. They emphasize the role of NMR which enables distinction between cystic astrocytomas and other cysts. In agreement with Kjos, the 3 cystic astrocytomas demonstrate an increased T1 and T2 and belong to the group of cystic tumors (type II)
Abstract (French)
Les auteurs presentent trois cas d'astrocytomes kystiques de l'enfant : 2 sus-tentoriels rolandiques et 1 cerebelleux chez des enfants d'un an et demi, 6 ans et 3 ans. Ils insistent sur les problemes diagnostiques souleves par ces images liquidiennes intracerebrales et sur l'interet de l'IRM. Celle-ci permet de separer les tumeurs kystiques (classe II de Kjos), des kystes arachnoidiens (classe I), et des kystes colloides et hemorragiques (classe III). En accord avec Kjos, les trois observations presentees d'astrocytomes kystiques ont un allongement en T1 et en T2, et s'integrent dans la classe IIAdditional details
