Calculations of deformations and stress fields in the structure of TEXTOR tokamak

Description

Calculations were made to study the behavior of the TEXTOR coils, which have to withstand radial and axial magnetic forces together with thermal strains. The finite element method was used. The orthotropic properties of the imbedded glass-resin layers were taken into account. Results of calculations concerning the temperature influence, and a description of a method for gaining mesh data of finite element nets are presented. Stiffening connection sheets joining the toroidal coils on the outer circumference foreseen to prevent twisting, are dealt with
