Conditioning of nuclear reactor fuel

Description

The fuel conditioning method of the invention consists of initially increasing the fuel power over the pellet-cladding interaction range to the desired maximum power level at a rate below a critical rate which would cause cladding damage. The maximum rate of this initial power increase has been found to be about 0.1 kw/ft/hr peak power for the type of fuel elements under discussion
