Research activity of the photon factory
Description
The Photon Factory, a national facility for synchrotron radiation research, consists of a 2.5 GeV electron storage ring, a full energy injector linac and various kinds of experimental facilities, and has been operated steadily since it was opened in June 1983. There are twenty-eight bending magnets and four RF cavities disposed along the ring. There are six straight sections in which insertion devices are installed. Until 1987 fourteen beam lines have been constructed and seven beam lines are under construction, each being divided into several branch lines. Of the fourteen beam lines, four are X-ray lines, three are VUV and soft X-ray lines, one is hard X-ray wiggler line, one is soft X-ray undulator line, one is X-ray/VUV multipole-wiggler/undulator line and four are the lines for both VUV and X-ray experiments. Synchrotron radiation users are enjoying high stability and brilliance of the beam and its long life. (author)
