Advances on the study of air pollution in Cordoba by neutron activation analysis

Description

Air pollution biomonitoring has been carried out in an area of 160.000 km2 by neutron activation analysis of lichen samples (Usnea sp. and Ramalina ecklonii) in the framework of a Co-ordinated Research Programme of the IAEA and an ARCAL Technical Co-operation Project. The samples were irradiated in the RA-3 reactor and after a decay time of 6, 12 and 30 days, 24 elements (As, Ba, Br, Ce, Co, Cr, Cs, Eu, Fe, Hf, La, Lu, Na, Nd, Rb, Sb, Sc, Sm, Ta, Tb, Th, U and Zn) were determined by gamma spectrometry.
