Description
A new ferroelectric perovskite compound Ba(Cd1/3Nb2/3)O3 is synthesized by columbite method. X-ray diffraction study confirms the formation of cubic perovskite phase. Temperature dependence of dielectric study showed ferroelectric behavior. Frequency and external electric field dependence of hysteresis area was also evaluated by using the Sawyer–Tower circuit. Scaling relation of hysteresis area against frequency and field amplitude takes a form of 〈A〉∝f1.01E02.14. Unsaturated P–E hysteresis loop study shows the leaky nature of the compound. - Highlights: ► New ferroelectric material Ba(Cd1/3Nb2/3)O3 was prepared by solid state reaction route. ► Compound has been characterized by X-rd, SEM, dielectric and electrical impedance study. ► Scaling laws, i.e., ∝ fmE0n are confirmed in the experiments. ► Scaling laws are helpful to characterize the dynamic hysteresis behavior
