Kaluza-Klein reduction of Gauss-Bonnet curvature
Description
Kaluza-Klein reduction of the Gauss-Bonnet curvature which is suggested by superstring theory is studied. In addition to the Yang-Mills lagrangian, the Einstein lagrangian and the Gauss-Bonnet invariant, the reduced action also contains RF2-, F3-, F4-terms and bilinear forms in the covariant derivative of the gauge field tensor. They provide us with a ghost-free correction to the Einstein-Yang-Mills theory. (orig.)
