Shield plug
Description
Purpose: To prevent the impediment for the rotational function of a shield plug caused by liquid metal coolant mists in a cover gas which uprise and deposit to clog the gap between a stationary plug and the rotary plug. Constitution: A shield plug device is mounted to a reactor vessel, liquid metal injection device is inserted from the upper surface of a rotary plug with the top end being extended near the liquid metal dip sealing mechanism. Then, a heating device is actuated to render the temperature higher than the melting point for the liquid metal and, thereafter, liquid metal is injected. This can surely prevent the liquid metal from scattering and the liquid metal can be stored in the liquid metal dip sealing mechanism. (Yoshino, Y.)
