Myocardial uptake of 18F-FDG in wholebody PET studies

  • 1. Radiation Medicine Centre (BARC), Tata Memorial Centre Annexe, Parel, Mumbai-400012 (India)

Description

Positron emission tomography with 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG-PET) is widely used to detect malignancy. The objective of this study was to study the degree and frequency of increased myocardial FDG uptake in routine oncologic PET studies and to correlate it with patient related factors like fasting blood sugar level (FBSL), fasting period (FP) and age of the patient that may have an influence on this phenomenon. Literature reveals many reports with controversial results on this subject
