Description

The present study is concerned with the determination of thorium in selected mineralized granitic samples. A developed Extractive Spectrophotometric method is given using 0.2 M tri-n- octyl phosphine oxide (TOPO) in cyclohexane as an extracting agent and arsenazo (III)is used as a metallochromic agent. 5% oxalic acid is used as stripping agent. Whereas scrapping is carried out by 1 M HNO3 saturated with urea. The percentage of error is found to be 2.8% while 2 μg.g-1 thorium is found as the lower detection limit
