Description

An increased interest in intense pulsed neutron beams from spallation reactions using accelerator beams, caused us to study neutron moderating structures that optimize energy and intensity in a collimated external channel. We show that it is possible using inhomogeneous structures to increase by 40±20 times the neutron beam current over a homogeneous D2O moderator with the same exterior dimensions. (orig.)
