Supersaturation of superfluid 3 He-4 He solutions in the region of phase stratification

Description
In the temperature region 30-250 mK the authors carried out two independent experiments to investigate the characteristic properties of stratification of 3 He-4 He liquid solutions. In one of the experiments, stratification was initiated by increasing the concentration and detected by changes in the first sound velocity and the dielectric constant. In the other one decompression method and pulsed NMR were used for the same purposes. The experiments resulted in a temperature dependence of supersaturation which qualitatively agrees with predictions of the theory assuming thermally activated as the mechanism of germ formation.
