A method to suppress motion effects in T2-weighted MR imaging
Description
Patient motion is a potential source of error in T2 during in vivo MR imaging using a long echo time. In a standard spin-warp pulse sequence the loss of signal from moving tissues is caused by loss of phase coherence between excitation and readout of the spin-echo signal. The authors have modified the usual spin warp-imaging pulse sequence in a way that greatly reduces the severity of such errors. The method yielded better-quality images when tested in both a moving phantom and in a living rabbit, and was useful in improving the accuracy of T2 values during phantom studies
