Description
From the results of distribution measurements a process has been derived for recovering Am concentrate from PUREX waste solutions. The process consists of the following stages: 1. Feed solution preparation 2. extraction of a lanthanoide-actinoide fraction with the aid of 50 % TBP magnesium nitrate, and 3. reextraction of Am concentrate with DTPA as complexing agent. It has been tested on a laboratory scale, using a simulated waste solution at a flow rate of 1 l/h. The achieved lanthanoide/actinoide separation is suitable for subsequent chromatographic final separation. The influence of radiolytic degradation has also been studied. (author)
