Description

Results are given of the study on designing a high-intensive laser neutron generator (LNG) for geophysical studies. Preliminary experiments have shown prospects of the use of a laser ion source im small-size nuclear-geophysical neutron generators because it allows to expect the increase of the neutron yield not less than by one order as compared with existing generators. In order to improve the earlier-described LNG design the following modification have been made: the pulse accelerating voltage instead of a direct one, use of a higher accelerating voltage, use of a laser with active modulation of the quality
