Description
The use of Horizontal symmetries to constrain the fermion mass matrix is discussed, with particular attention payed to a gauged SU(2) x U(1)xG/sub H/ x U(1)/sub B-L/ group, with G/sub H/ = SU(2) or SU(3). The feebleness of generation changing transitions is related to the near masslessness of the neutrinos
