Gauge theory in a symmetrized chromomagnetic vacuum

  • 1. Department of Physics, University of Crete, Iraklion, Crete, Greece

Description

It is found that a restriction of the Fock space to states invariant under space and SU(N) rotations stabilizes the Savvidy vacuum. The symmetrized Hamiltonian is canonically quantized and a Fock space is formally constructed. The one-loop contributions to the effective Lagrangian and the energy of the vacuum are calculated. The quark-quark classical potential is found to vanish
