Radiosensitivity of human bone marrow cells forming granulocytic-macrophagal colonies in diffusive chambers

Under the influence of 60Co γ-rays the radiosensitivity of cells forming granulocyticmacrophagal colonies in diffusive chambers (CFU-DC) and contained in the bone marrow of patients with the Hodogkin disease is similar to that of stromal precursor cells contained in the bone marrow of patients without any changes in the blood system and of patients with bone sarcomas, and also similar to that of polypotent hemopoietic stem cells forming colonies in the spleen of lethally irradiated mice. The summary dose curve of CFU-DC survival for 7 patients examined is characterized by a value of the mean cellular lethal dose D0 that equals 1.1 Gy and by the extrapolation number of 1.5. The efficacy of colony formation and the mean cellular lethal dose do not show any correlation
