Collective processes in a tokamak with high-energy particles: linear theory of beam-Alfven instability

Description

This paper presents results of the linear theory of the beam-Alfven instability. The author elucidates how the corresponding picture is modified under the allowance for the collisional dissipation due to the trapped electrons. The perturbations are studied with arbitrary k-lambda. The role of the shear is considered. For elucidating the role of the shear, certain information from the theory of wave packets in an inhomogeneous plasma is necessary and this information is presented. Some general information about the Alven waves in an inhomogeneous plasma is recalled
