Instrumentation for transient thermal hydraulic experiments related to reactor safety

  • 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Reactor Engineering Div.

Description

After mentioning the characteristics and requirements of the measuring system for the study of transients, various measuring devices and systems developed to measure the transient values of the various blowdown parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, density, void fraction, liquid level are reviewed. These are required in transient thermal hydraulic experiments related to reactor safety. Essential characteristics of the data acquisition system required in such experiments are mentioned. A single phase blowdown experiment planned to study the response of piezzoelectric crystals to changing loads and assess their suitability for measuring blowdown rates is briefly outlined. (M.G.B.)
