Studies on the decontamination of fission produced 99Mo from 131I using Chelex 100 chelating ion exchange resin (Preprint no. AR-17)

Description

Fission 99Mo prepared by the hydrochlorination-sublimation method showed the presence of 131I contaminant slightly above the maximum permissible level for its use in nuclear medicine. This paper deals with the ion exchange studies carried out on Chelex 100 (100-200 mesh) in H2SO4 medium for the removal of iodine from molybdenum solution. The results obtained were quite promising.
