Radiation effects on MgAl2O4-stabilized zirconia composite material irradiated with Ne+ ions

Description
The damage evolution processes in polycrystalline MgAl2O4-stabilized zirconia composite materials has been studied by in situ TEM observation. The irradiation was performed with 30 keV Ne+ ions at a flux of 5 x 1013 Ne/cm2 s at room temperature. Defect cluster were formed in stabilized zirconia grain at fluence of 3 x 1015 Ne/cm2 and MgAl2O4 grain within a fluence of 3 x 1015 Ne/cm2. They grew with the increasing fluence. Bubbles were formed in both grains at a fluence of 3 x 1015 Ne/cm2 and they grew with the increasing fluence. We could observe bubbles on MgAl2O4-stabilized zirconia grain boundary at 9 x 1015 Ne/cm2. Bubbles grew with the increased fluence.
