Bolometers as high-resolution gamma spectrometers
Description
A significant advance in nuclear gamma-ray spectroscopy could be made if detectors capable of measuring Doppler shifts at MeV energies were available. With this goal in mind, we have investigated the prospects for constructing gamma-ray bolometers. We discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this approach, drawing on recent progress in their application to X-ray astronomy and neutrino detection
