Description
The lean organic containing plutonium (200 mg/L -1.2 g/L) after the first cycle extraction, is stripped back by introducing single and multiple point in the strip section from the externally added uranous stabilized with hydrazine which is generated electrolytically from uranyl nitrate solution made of dissolving U3O8. This paper deals with preparation of uranyl by fumeless dissolution of U3O8, experimental runs of generation of uranous from uranyl by electrolytic method and dilution of uranous to the stoichiometric amount to strip the plutonium from lean organic. Pu4+ in the lean organic is reduced to Pu3+ by U4+ and stripped to aqueous phase. (author)
