Room-temperature Moessbauer study on electron-capture effects for sorbed cobalt 57

  • 1. Zhdanov Leningrad Univ. (USSR)

Description

Room-temperature Moessbauer emission spectroscopy has been used to examine electron-capture effects for cobalt 57 on ion-exchange materials (KU-2-8 sulfonated cation exchanger and ZrP). A resonant scintillation detector has been used to record the emission spectra from 57Co(II) on KU-2-8. A competing-acceptor model has been used to explain the yield of aliovalent Fe(III) for 57Co(II) on ZrP. Measurements have been made on the effects of polar and nonpolar adsorbates on the bonding of the 57Co(II) to the KU-2-8 and ZrP
